Airtel Nigeria’s CEO, Ogunsanya, to lead discourse on African Business at NBA Conference

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, has been listed among important thought leaders in the corporate and government circles that will speak at this year’s edition of the prestigious Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Conference.

Ogunsanya, who was recently named African CEO of the Year by a pan African platform that recognizes customer service, innovation and excellence in Africa Telecom and Information Technology Industry, will join other panelist to discuss the theme,  “African Business: The Road Less Travelled,” at the week-long NBA conference, which will kick off on Friday, 18th August, 2017.

Osinbajo pledges support for IPI 2018 in Abuja

In line with its commitment to promote private sector partnership, the Buhari administration will partner the Nigerian chapter of the International Press Institute (IPI) to host a hitch-free 2018 World Congress of the Global Network of Free Media, according to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.

Prof. Osinbajo gave the assurance when the board of the Nigerian chapter of the International Press Institute (IPI), paid him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa earlier today to intimate him on plans for the forthcoming event scheduled for Abuja in June 2018.

2017 Maltina Teacher of the Year Attracts Record Entries

As entries closed for this year’s Maltina Teacher of the Year, organizers of the initiative, Nigerian Breweries Plc, has said the edition attracted entries from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr. Kufre Ekanem, who disclosed this last week as the panel of judges met to commence assessment of the entries, said that over 300 valid entries were received, compared to 176 received in 2016. According to him, “all 36 states and the FCT will be up in battle for the third edition of the Maltina Teacher of the Year.”

Promasidor Wins MAN “Best Kept Industrial Premises Award”

UNIDO Introduces COMFAR App For Small Businesses

The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation’s (UNIDO)’s Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) said it is set to equip Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria with its Computer Model for Feasibility Analysis and Reporting –COMFAR tools and methodologies for project appraisal.

The United Nations projects that Nigeria’s population would increase to 200 million in two years and most of these people are entrepreneurs. The UN believes that if they are trained now, it will affect the economy positively, especially when the population increases further.

Opera discontinues Opera Max service

Opera has announced that it is discontinuing its Opera Max service.

The company, which is now owned by a consortium of Chinese firms, announced via a blog post that, "the product had a substantially different value proposition than our browser products, and represented a different focus for Opera. We, therefore, focus on our browsers and other upcoming services.”

Bill Gates gives $4.6bn to charity in biggest donation since 2000

Bill Gates has given away $4.6 billion of Microsoft shares which account to around 5% of his fortune. This makes it the largest gift since the turn of the century.

While the recipient of the gift wasn’t specified, Mr Gates has made the majority of his donations to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the charity he and his wife use to direct their philanthropic efforts.

Leading telecommunications service provider, Airtel Nigeria, has said that its newly introduced Unlimited Data plans will empower and create more prosperity opportunities for telecoms consumers as well as boost mobile broadband connectivity.

Chinese Businessman Completes Southampton Takeover

After about a year of talks with Chinese businessman Jisheng Gao and his family, a deal worth around £210million for 80 per cent of English Football Club Southampton has finally been agreed.

Saints owner Katharina Liebherr, who will retain a 20 per cent share of the club, confirmed the deal had been completed in a statement released to fans on Monday afternoon.
