Accelerate Africa opens applications for fifth startup accelerator programme in Lagos

Accelerate Africa has opened applications for the fifth edition of its startup accelerator programme, which is scheduled to begin in August in Lagos.

The founder-focused initiative is designed to support ambitious African entrepreneurs building scalable businesses aimed at addressing some of the continent’s most pressing challenges.

Targeted at early-stage startups, the accelerator provides mentorship, strategic advisory services, operational support and access to influential business networks to help founders grow innovative ideas into globally competitive ventures.

Over a 12-week period, 10 selected startups will undergo intensive training and support across five key areas considered critical to business growth and sustainability. These include storytelling, people and operations, go-to-market strategy, product development and fundraising.

Participants will receive one-on-one coaching, guidance from experienced operators and investors, and access to advisors with practical entrepreneurial experience across Africa.

The programme will also provide founders with additional support services, including legal office hours, financial advisory sessions, technology support clinics and business operations guidance.

Accelerate Africa said one of the distinguishing features of the programme is that it does not take equity from startups at the point of admission. However, founders may receive optional investment offers during the November demo day from the Accelerate Africa Fund and Future Africa.

The potential pre-seed and seed-stage investments are expected to range between $250,000 and $500,000.

Applications for the accelerator programme will remain open until 26 July.
