Dubai Chamber of Commerce has concluded a trade mission to Addis Ababa aimed at strengthening commercial ties between Dubai and Ethiopia through a series of bilateral meetings between companies from both markets.
The mission brought together businesses from a range of sectors to explore investment opportunities, expand trade relations and establish new partnerships between Dubai-based firms and Ethiopian companies.
As part of the visit, the chamber organised the Dubai–Ethiopia Business Connect forum in collaboration with the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations, the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations, and the Ethiopian Investment Commission.
The forum was attended by senior government officials, business leaders and private sector representatives, including H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers; H.E. Amha Hailegiorgis, Deputy Director General for Middle East, Asia, and Pacific Affairs of Ethiopia; H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the UAE; Dr. Aynalem Abayneh, Vice President of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations; Eng. Abebe Gurmesa, Vice President of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations; and Rashed Abdulla Alshehhi, Head of Economic, Political and Media Section at the UAE Embassy to Ethiopia.
H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, said: “We remain committed to strengthening economic ties between Dubai and Ethiopia and creating new channels for cooperation that unlock partnership opportunities for private sector companies in both markets. This trade mission provides an important platform to advance direct dialogue between businesses and explore the potential of the Ethiopian market. It also supports the global expansion of Dubai-based companies, encourages high-impact partnerships, and contributes to the continued growth of the emirate’s non-oil foreign trade.”
During the forum, Dubai Chamber of Commerce presented Dubai’s business landscape and highlighted opportunities available to Ethiopian companies seeking to expand into regional and international markets through the emirate.
Lalise Getachew, Investment Promotion Advisor to the Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission, also addressed participants, outlining Ethiopia’s evolving trade and investment environment and opportunities for foreign investors.
Trade relations between Ethiopia and Dubai have continued to expand significantly. The value of non-oil trade between the two markets reached AED22.3 billion in 2025, representing year-on-year growth of 236.6 per cent.
The chamber also revealed that 91 new Ethiopian companies joined Dubai Chamber of Commerce during the first quarter of 2026, bringing the total number of Ethiopian businesses registered as active members to 1,676 by the end of March 2026.
The trade mission included representatives from 21 Dubai-based companies operating across sectors such as automotive, construction and building materials, electronics, engineering, fast-moving consumer goods, food and beverages, interior design, mining and metals, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, printing and packaging, as well as textiles and ready-made garments.
