South Africa is set to host the 28th annual Africa Tech Festival from 11 to 13 November 2025 at the Cape Town International Conference Centre, as the continent accelerates its journey towards digital transformation.
The choice of Cape Town as host reflects the city’s emergence as Africa’s tech capital. The Western Cape, including Cape Town and its surrounding areas, has become the heart of the continent’s innovation economy. The Cape Town–Stellenbosch tech corridor is home to more than 450 tech firms employing nearly 40,000 professionals, supported by a robust network of incubators, accelerators, investors, and training providers that reinforce the region’s innovation ecosystem.

Cape Town hosts over 60% of South Africa’s startups and ranks among Africa’s top hubs for venture capital activity. World-class universities feed a steady pipeline of skilled graduates into its technology ecosystem, while the city’s digital infrastructure, supportive business environment, and attractive lifestyle draw major tech firms and investors to make it their African base.
The city’s leadership in digital infrastructure, including advanced fibre networks, renewable energy projects, and a growing innovation footprint, demonstrates how technology can drive economic inclusion and sustainability.
The Africa Tech Festival is the continent’s largest platform for enterprise tech innovation, covering sectors such as telecoms, connectivity, cybersecurity, cloud and data centres, green ICT, and media and entertainment. In 2025, over 15,000 attendees, more than 300 exhibitors, and 450 speakers will gather in Cape Town to connect the local tech ecosystem with the global market, reinforcing the city’s status as Africa’s premier technology hub.
The 2025 festival will integrate its four flagship programmes - AfricaCom, AfricaTech, AfricaIgnite, and The AI Summit Cape Town under a unified theme that highlights Africa’s ambition for responsible and inclusive growth. The event aims to move discussions beyond technology silos, exploring how connectivity, policy, entrepreneurship, and artificial intelligence intersect to accelerate the continent’s development goals.
