The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), during its 15th meeting held at the Light House on 21st July 2025, approved the commencement of the Awka City Park Project. The initiative is aimed at enhancing recreational infrastructure in the state capital while delivering environmental, aesthetic, health, social, and economic benefits.
Construction on the park is set to begin immediately, forming part of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s broader vision to transform Anambra into a vibrant, liveable, and leisure-friendly state.
In line with this vision, Governor Soludo, alongside members of ANSEC, recently commissioned the expansive Solution Fun City, hailed as the largest of its kind in Africa. The entertainment hub features a Family Fun Center, an Amusement Park, a Water Park, and an International Country Club designed to cater to all age groups and social classes.
“This is a fun city like no other; there are no comparable facilities in the world,” Governor Soludo remarked during the launch. “Anambra will no longer be seen as just a departure lounge but as a destination hub.”
State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, emphasised that the development forms a core part of Governor Soludo’s mission to make Anambra a state where people can enjoy quality leisure time. He described the project as a reflection of the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life through thoughtful urban development.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, present at the commissioning ceremony, expressed admiration for the project, stating, “Anambra is rising and we are ready to work with you.”
In a related development, at its 8th meeting, the Council initiated plans to launch the Solution Country Club in Awka. This club is set to become a key component of the Solution Fun City, offering a dedicated space for leisure, cultural activities, and social engagement.
The Country Club is expected to promote social integration, celebrate local traditions, and serve as a cultural and economic asset to the state.
Governor Soludo’s transformation agenda has seen significant progress across various sectors, including education, healthcare, where he has been recognised as the best-performing governor in primary healthcare in both the Southeast and the nation, transportation, innovation, agriculture, human capital development, and security.
With projects like Awka City Park and Solution Fun City, Anambra continues to position itself as a premier destination for recreation, investment, and cultural tourism.
