Applications are now being accepted for the Milken-Motsepe Prize in AI for Manufacturing, which offers a total of US$2 million to African innovators using artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to transform manufacturing value chains across the continent.
This prestigious competition aims to support Africa-based companies developing scalable, tech-driven solutions that improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and promote sustainable economic growth in emerging markets.
The prize includes US$2 million in total awards, with a US$1 million Grand Prize, alongside exclusive networking opportunities and the chance to pitch directly to global industry leaders, investors, and decision-makers.
“If your company is using AI and advanced data analytics to boost efficiency, reduce waste, and deliver scalable impact, this is your moment,” the organisers stated. “We’re looking for tech-powered solutions ready to drive job creation, unlock commercial growth, and ignite breakthroughs across the globe.”
The competition is open to startups and companies operating in Africa that are leveraging AI to improve manufacturing processes, enhance supply chain efficiency, minimise material waste, and create scalable, commercially viable solutions.
Entries will be evaluated based on technological integration, operational efficiency, commercial viability, and scalability, particularly with potential for regional or global expansion within African markets.
The Milken-Motsepe Prize is part of a wider initiative to accelerate innovation in Africa by supporting entrepreneurs solving real-world problems through technology. This year’s focus on manufacturing reflects the sector’s key role in job creation, industrial development, and economic resilience.
