UN Global Week: LG Electronics partners Solution17 to drive Waste to Wealth and Just Act Project in Nigeria


Creative Youth Community Development Initiative (CYCDI) - Solution17 partners with LG Electronics to unveil climate solutions and a climate emergency movie to generate awareness ahead of the Global Week to #Act4SDGs. The global mobilization will be held during the high-level week of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September.

On Saturday, September 24, 2022, Nike Art Gallery Lagos will host key stakeholders, organizations, the private sector, business leaders, international agencies, and players on the frontline of climate change to discuss the implementation of low carbon development in Nigeria ahead of COP27.

Solution17 will launch the Climate Emergency Movie series at the event. The creative series will spur global action toward implementing Agenda 2030 for sustainable development. The campaign focuses on Practical, Impactful and Technology-driven Action on Climate Change.

The Head of Corporate Marketing, LG Electronics West African Operations, Mr. Hari Elluru stated that LG Electronics pursues two strategic directions to expand positive impact beyond reducing negative impact of environment: Zero Negative Environmental Impact and provision of environmental-friendly products & services, contributing to the better life of all and future generations

To actively engage in existing sustainability management activities, LGE has selected its ESG strategic tasks and created the ‘LG Electronics ESG 6 key initiatives: Better Life Plan 2030’ that includes specific targets and implementation plans so that the ESG management vision can go beyond its declared goals and be recognized and implemented as a specific management activity that pursues practical results.

The CEO and Project Director, Foluke Michael, applauded LG Electronics for their dedication to sustainability in Nigeria and worldwide by producing eco-friendly products. She said that her organization connects the dots between Education, Arts and Entertainment to proffer Solutions to environmental problems for social impact and profit.

"The goal of a liveable planet is achievable if the government, businesses, students, and individuals can transition from current realities and behaviour to a more climate-friendly society”, Foluke Stated.
