Cristiano Ronaldo leads Lionel Messi as world’s richest footballer

Cristiano Ronaldo is the wealthiest footballer in the world with a personal fortune of £152m - some £7m more than his rival Lionel Messi, according to the 2015 Goal Rich List, sports website Goal reported.

Ronaldo, who also topped the list in 2014, enjoys $7 million more than his rival and second on the annual chart of the game's wealthiest active players, Lionel Messi with personal wealth of £145m.

Both players reportedly have fortunes more considerable than any other footballers.

The duo is followed by Barca’s Neymar, who comes third on the list with a fortune of £97.9m.

The wealth of each player takes into account sponsorship revenue, wages - as well as bonuses.

PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Manchester’s Wayne Rooney follow in the fourth and fifth.
