Favy Makes History as Inaugural MasterChef Nigeria Winner, Claims ₦73 Million Prize

After 13 weeks of intense culinary competition, bold flavours and remarkable determination, 26-year-old Favour Bessan, popularly known as Favy, has been crowned the first-ever winner of MasterChef Nigeria, taking home the prestigious trophy and a ₦73 million cash prize.

The landmark finale saw Favy face fellow finalist Fads in a demanding cook-off that tested every skill they had developed throughout the competition. Judged by acclaimed culinary experts Chef Stone and Chef Eros, the final challenge assessed the contestants' creativity, composure, decision-making and technical excellence.

For the final assignment, both home cooks were required to prepare a three-course menu that showcased their unique culinary identity. Before the challenge began, Chef Stone encouraged them with a simple but inspiring message: “Cook from your heart. Put yourself on the plate.”

 26-year-old Favour Bessan, popularly known as Favy, was crowned the first-ever winner of MasterChef Nigeria. 

Favy impressed with a menu that demonstrated confidence, refined technique and creativity. Her starter of smoked salmon with potato mash and roasted bell pepper soup stood out for its balance of flavour, presentation and storytelling, earning her the judges' approval and securing her place in history as Nigeria's first MasterChef champion.

Her triumph capped one of the competition's most memorable journeys. Throughout the season, Favy consistently displayed resilience, calm under pressure and an unwavering commitment to improving her craft. She also became the first contestant to win the MasterChef Nigeria Immunity Pin, a strategic advantage that ultimately helped secure her place in the semi-finals.

Speaking after being announced as the winner, an emotional Favy described the achievement as “a dream come true” and dedicated her victory to aspiring home cooks who believe that passion, perseverance and hard work can unlock extraordinary opportunities.

Since its premiere on 26 April 2026, MasterChef Nigeria has captivated audiences nationwide, celebrating the richness of Nigerian cuisine while showcasing the talent and creativity of everyday home cooks. Across 13 weeks, viewers watched contestants tackle pressure tests, mystery boxes, team challenges and eliminations, highlighting the diversity and depth of Nigeria's culinary heritage.

Reflecting on the success of the inaugural season, Tamara van Eeckhoven, Managing Director of Primedia Africa, the producer of MasterChef Nigeria, thanked the contestants, judges, headline sponsor Power Oil, as well as the sponsors and partners whose support made the series possible.
