Shuttlers, the technology-driven shared mobility platform, has announced its integration into the Google Maps Transit system in Nigeria, alongside reaching a major operational milestone of 10 million completed journeys.
The development allows commuters using Google Maps for public transport directions to view Shuttlers routes and book seats through the platform, expanding access to structured and reliable transport services for professionals and businesses in Nigeria’s urban centres.
The achievement comes amid growing demand for organised mobility solutions across Africa’s rapidly expanding cities, where population growth continues to place pressure on existing transport infrastructure. According to the World Bank, transport inefficiencies cost African cities between 2% and 5% of gross domestic product annually, while commuters in Lagos lose more than 30 hours each month to traffic congestion.
To become a Google Transit partner, Shuttlers aligned its data architecture, route systems and real-time operational capabilities with Google's infrastructure requirements.

Founded in 2016, Shuttlers currently serves 30,000 active users across more than 1,000 itineraries and operates over 430 buses daily in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. The company said it has maintained a 99% trip completion rate and a 99.94% incident-free rate throughout its operational history.
The platform also reports that its users save between 60% and 88% on transport costs compared with ride-hailing services, while recovering between eight and 12 hours each month that would otherwise be lost in traffic.
As part of its sustainability strategy, Shuttlers is introducing compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric buses into its fleet, a move the company says can reduce emissions by up to 60% compared with conventional diesel-powered vehicles.
With the Google Maps Transit integration and the 10 million journeys milestone, Shuttlers said it remains committed to improving urban mobility across African cities through technology-enabled transport solutions that benefit commuters, businesses and transport operators.
