Google Launches Applications for 10th African Startup Accelerator with AI Focus

Google has opened applications for the 10th cohort of its Google for Startups Accelerator Africa, marking a milestone edition that places artificial intelligence (AI) at the core of its support for African founders. The programme is designed to equip growth-stage startups with the tools, mentorship, and networks needed to scale AI-driven solutions across the continent.

The accelerator runs for 12 weeks and is equity-free, targeting startups at the Growth to Series A stage. Eligible companies must either be based in Africa or develop solutions specifically for African markets. This year’s focus is on AI-powered startups tackling real-world challenges in sectors such as health, climate, agriculture, and financial services.

The programme combines virtual and in-person sessions. Selected startups will receive technical mentorship from Google engineers, guidance on scaling products, access to Google’s global network of experts, and support in refining business strategies.

Since its launch in 2018, the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa has supported over 180 startups across 17 African countries. Participating companies have collectively raised more than $350 million in funding and created over 3,700 direct jobs. The programme has consistently acted as a launchpad for high-growth African startups, helping founders accelerate their products, attract investment, and expand regionally.

With AI emerging as a key driver of innovation, the 10th cohort highlights Google’s commitment to fostering cutting-edge technologies in Africa.
