JMG Cuts Diesel Use, Saves ₦40m a Year as Solar Powers Lagos Headquarters on Clean Energy Day

As Clean Energy Day is marked on January 26, JMG Limited is underscoring its role in Nigeria’s clean energy transition with a major operational milestone: a sharp reduction in diesel consumption at its Lagos head office, translating into annual savings of up to ₦40 million.

JMG Limited, a provider of hybrid and integrated electromechanical solutions, operates across several specialised divisions, including power generation, renewable energy, cooling systems, vertical transportation, electrical infrastructure, and industrial solutions. Together, these businesses support homes, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities with energy systems designed to be reliable, efficient and environmentally responsible.

At the centre of the company’s Clean Energy Day message is the deployment of a 129-kilowatt hybrid solar power system at its headquarters. The installation now supplies as much as 90 per cent of the building’s energy needs, generating an average of 15.48 MWh of clean electricity each month. As a result, JMG has cut diesel consumption by more than 34,800 litres annually, while eliminating over 71 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

The project, designed and executed by JMG Solar, integrates LONGi 575W solar panels, high-efficiency Deye hybrid inverters and 122.9 kWh of lithium-ion battery storage. The system has been configured to be scalable and future-ready, ensuring reliable power while significantly reducing operating costs and environmental impact.

JMG Limited delivers commercial and industrial solar power solutions in Nigeria through JMG Solar, designing and installing hybrid solar systems, battery energy storage and both grid-tied and off-grid solutions. The company also offers flexible solar leasing and financing options, enabling businesses to reduce reliance on diesel and transition to cleaner energy with minimal upfront investment.

In recent weeks, key stakeholders and business partners visited the solar installation at JMG’s headquarters to see the system in operation. The visit highlighted how renewable energy adoption can deliver tangible cost savings, improve operational efficiency and reduce dependence on fossil fuels for Nigerian businesses.

Speaking on the company’s sustainability strategy, Rabi Jammal, Group General Manager of JMG Limited, said: “JMG is not just advocating clean energy, we are running on it. Our headquarters clearly demonstrates that smart solar solutions can deliver immediate financial and environmental benefits for businesses in Nigeria.”

Beyond its Lagos head office, JMG is advancing sustainability across multiple sectors, deploying energy-efficient lift systems, renewable power solutions for healthcare facilities, smart air compressor systems for factories, and advanced cooling technologies for data centres. These projects, the company says, show that high performance and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.

Reflecting on the significance of Clean Energy Day, Jammal added, “As we celebrate Clean Energy Day, we are proud of the progress we have made in advancing sustainability across Nigeria. JMG remains committed to driving economic development while reducing environmental impact through smarter, cleaner energy solutions.”

With these recent milestones, JMG is reinforcing its long-term commitment to clean energy and sustainable development. By embedding innovation, efficiency and environmental responsibility across its operations, the company continues to support economic growth while contributing to a greener and more resilient Nigeria.
