The founder and CEO of CcHub, Dr. 'Bosun Tijani has been appointed by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration as the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. The list of ministers was announced on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
Dr. Tijani was nominated as a ministerial candidate a few days ago, and he successfully navigated a demanding ministerial screening session before being designated Minister.
He is well-known for his involvement in the Nigerian IT sector as well as his efforts to promote African innovation and entrepreneurship. He was instrumental in developing CcHub as a notable hub for technology and innovation in Nigeria, stimulating the growth of the local tech community and assisting various businesses.
CcHUB made great growth under Tijani's leadership. In 2019, the company bought Kenya's iHub and opened the CcHUB Design Lab in Kigali, Rwanda. Tijani demonstrated his commitment to expansion by launching CcHUB Namibia, a large technical centre in Windhoek, Namibia, in 2023, further expanding CcHUB's influence across Africa's southern area.
He will be taking over from Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim, the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy who served in the President Buhari-led administration from 2019 – 2023.
Prior to this administration, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy was established to build a knowledge-based economy and information society in Nigeria. It was established to promote ICT as a crucial tool in Nigeria's transformation programme in the areas of job creation, economic growth, and governance transparency.
With the addition of Innovation to the portfolio, the Ministry's name will change once more. It will be fascinating to see how this will be implemented in the new corporation.
