WTT Contestants Applaud Coronation, Others as Nigeria Competition Ends on a High Note


Contestants in the recently concluded World Tennis Tournament (WTT) series praised Leading Global Investment Company, Coronation, and other brands that sponsored the global sporting event in Nigeria. The week-long tennis championship, held at the iconic Sir Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall in Surulere, produced sparks of exhilarating performances from renowned table tennis players who provided breath-taking skills for fans all over the world.

Aimed at transforming the table tennis experience and how it is delivered internationally through world-class events, the WTT showpiece was designed to promote engaging fan-centric content and enhancements which will encourage more people to play and consume table tennis.

It could be recalled that Coronation Insurance provided insurance cover for all the table tennis players at the event. This was done with the clear intention to boost private investors’ confidence in the Sports industry and help to improve fundamental social and interpersonal skills, which aids in crime reduction and building national unity.

Sharing his perspective on the competition, Nigeria’s tennis sensation, Taiwo Mati, recognized Coronation Insurance for offering to support the initiative. He stated that “we are aware that insurance plays a very vital role in the journey of sportspersons globally. We want to appreciate brands like Coronation Insurance who are trying to build confidence in this ecosystem and for making the WTT a resounding success”. Also, Ghanaian tennis player, Felix Lartey was full of praise for the organizers of WTT. He stated that “this is a very exciting tournament. We appreciate Coronation Insurance and other brands that are supporting tennis by providing the needed investment boost”.

The CEO of Coronation Insurance Plc, Mr. Olamide Olajolo, maintained that leveraging on Sports initiatives will help make the sports sector more appealing for the youth to pursue as a career and profitable for businesses. “We are excited to be a part of this epoch-making tennis fiesta. Indeed, Sporting tournaments such as the WTT Contender Tournament can be utilized as a medium to democratize wealth creation and access, thereby encouraging participation in all sporting activities in primary, secondary, and tertiary educational institutions”.

He stated that “sports can provide an important platform for youths to develop life skills that will enable them to cope better with everyday life challenges and transition away from drug abuse, violence, and crime”.

Another tennis player, Mojisola Suliat Ajibike affirmed that with such sponsorships as witnessed in this year’s edition of WTT, the future is bright. She said that “I am deeply awed by the level of brand sponsorship for this event. As we all know that football is the most appreciated sport in Nigeria today. However, with what Coronation Insurance and other brands have done with the WTT series in Nigeria, I want to believe that table tennis as a sport will continue to grow in participation and followership”.

Also, the CEO of Coronation Life Assurance, Akinlolu Akinleye affirmed that Nigeria and indeed the corporate world can tap into the sporting goldmine.
