Hilda Baci officially awarded record for world’s longest cooking marathon

Guinness World Records (GWR) has now declared Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has the official record holder for the longest cooking marathon (person), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes, after an exhaustive review of every piece of evidence.

GWR made the announcement on its official website and social media platforms.

The 26-year-old Nigerian chef began her four-day kitchen stint on Thursday, May 11 and ended on Monday, May 15, cooking almost 100 pots of meals.

Hilda attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.

As with all ‘longest marathon’ records, the participant is permitted a five-minute rest break for every continuous hour of activity. These rest breaks can be accumulated if not taken. They were the only times Hilda could use the bathroom or sleep during the attempt.

Hilda attempted to break the 100-hour mark, but nearly seven hours were removed from her final total because she took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early in the endeavour.

The participant is allowed a five-minute rest break for every continuous hour of action, like with all 'longest marathon' records. If these rest periods are not taken, they can add up. During the endeavour, they were the only times Hilda could use the loo or sleep.
