Donald Trump's Effect: Huawei Plans to Launch HongMeng OS to Minimise Android OS Dependency

...New OS repeatedly faster than Andriod

Following the recent sanctions by the President of the United States of America Donald Trump, Huawei is doing everything possible to reduce its dependency on the Android Operating System (OS) for its devices.

Huawei Founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei, in an interview with Le Point, a French Magazine said that Huawei’s in-house developed HongMeng OS is more than a replacement for Android, as it is not limited to smartphones and tablets.

HongMeng OS has been designed to work on routers, data centers, printed circuit boards, routers, etc.

Ren also said that the OS would, in addition to all the above, power self-driving cars and autonomous vehicles.

In the same press interview, Ren said that the OS, which is still a work in progress is likely to be faster than macOS and Android.

He however noted that the while the company’s OS might be faster, it will still have a long way to go to compete effectively with Android and iOS to build up developer support. Towards this goal, Huawei is developing an app store for the OS.

While Trump relaxed the ban on Huawei, it is not yet clear when US firm’s can revisit their business with the company.

HongMeng OS plans to launch in China 2019, and globally in 2020.
