Barcelona sets new revenue record of €914m, expends €882m

Spanish LaLiga football club Barcelona has declared a record revenue of €914million with expenses of €882million in 2017-18 season. It also announced operating profit was €32million, while the net profit was €13million after tax.

Towards its target of breaking the €1bn ($1.17bn) per year barrier by 2021, Barcelona’s board of directors approved the closing of its accounts for the 2017-18 season.

Barcelona won LaLiga and the Copa del Rey but dropped out of Uefa Champions League at the quarter-final stage.

The budget for the 2017-18 season had forecast revenues of €897m, a figure Barcelona stated would make it the world’s top earning sports club.

"FC Barcelona wishes to emphasis and appreciate the extraordinary work carried out by Manel Arroyo over the last eight years", the club said in a statement.
