NGO organizes charity art exhibition

Ovie Brume Foundation, dedicated to creating an enabling environment for young people to reach their goals and give back to the community organized a charity art exhibition to raise funds for the continuation of their programs in Ikoyi Lagos recently.



The art exhibition tagged: The Genesis showcased the works of award winning contemporary artists such as Abraham Uyovisere, Akinola Ebenezer, Bimbo Adenugba, George Edozie, Gerald Chukwuma, Joshua Nmesirionye, Kunle Adegborioye, Osagie Rafael Aimufia, Segun Aiyesan and Wallace John.


 

The Chair, Board of Trustees of the Ovie Brume Foundation, Mrs. Evelyn Oputu highlighted the importance of art in the society “every culture develops some form of art, which gives identity and purpose to its inhabitants through mutually understood symbols and serves as a means by which values are passed from one generation to the next. Art thus plays an integral role in how a nation’s cultural identity is defined and perpetuated”.

She further emphasized the importance of supporting the artistic process and encouraging budding artists while stating that arts has always been an integral part of the Foundation’s activities through their weekly art classes and funding of several Fine art scholarships.
