Rwanda Premier League signs new title sponsor

Tanzanian pay-TV company AzamTV has struck a deal with the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) to become the new title sponsor of the Rwanda Premier League (RPL). Under the deal, Azam TV will be investing USD2.35 million in the Rwanda Premier League for five years.

The deal also sees Azam become Ferwafa’s broadcast partner, with the pay-TV operator picking up the broadcast rights for coverage of the soccer league in Rwanda. The company will invest $350,000 and will increase the amount to $500,000 in the following four years, reports All Africa.com.

“It is important for your football and for us. I don’t know how many people know Azam but we believe this is the time to be known. Associating with Rwanda’s football will definitely help us penetrate into the ever growing demand for TV entertainment in Rwanda,” Rhys Torrington, who signed the agreement on behalf of Azam TV.

Pay TV company Azam TV will now be the official broadcaster of the league, which begins on 18 September, 2015.
