Social Media Week Returns To Chicago in November 2015

Global organizers of Social Media Week (SMW), Crowdcentric and Jasculca Terman Strategic Communications (JT) have announced the return of Social Media Week Chicago, which is scheduled for November 16-20, 2015.

During the six years SMW has been operating, the organizers and its local partners in more than 20 countries have brought together more than half a million people at thousands of individually hosted events on six continents—and connected millions more online to discuss the revolution in human connectivity and the impact that social media and technology plays in our global society, culture and economy.

In November 2015, Crowdcentric will partner with JT, an award-winning strategic communications firm, to produce the Chicago edition of the conference. JT specializes in public affairs, event management, crisis communications and digital strategies, and will work with Crowdcentric’s team over the coming months to shape a compelling agenda and events.

“The vast majority of the world’s population now communicates either in part or fully through social media channels,” observes JT CEO Rick Jasculca. “Yet, for many, it remains a mysterious and untapped frontier. That must and most certainly will change.  The question is: who will be leading the journey, and who will be following? It is important that we begin now earnestly building a generation of leaders and innovators, who understand not just how to use social media, but how to direct and channel it in ways that benefit our global and local communities. Social Media Week enables the Chicago area to be part of setting that agenda.”

To deepen engagement with the local community, Social Media Week Chicago is excited to partner with corporations, organizations, brands, and associations throughout the metro area, as well as expand global editorial and news coverage of Chicago innovation, culture and technology. Through content and experiences that are engaging, entertaining, educational and diverse, SMW Chicago will explore the myriad ways that our connected world helps expand the frontiers of knowledge, imagination and possibilities.

Event submission closes: October 16

JT joins Crowdcentric and SMW in its mission to explore the global theme for 2015, Upwardly Mobile: The Rise Of The Connected Class, a year-long examination of how technology will impact that way we live, work and innovate in a connected world, and how new ideas and break-through technologies will lead to meaningful and productive changes in the way we tackle issues and pursue our careers and our life’s journey.

“We are at the very beginning of a seismic, societal shift being driven by the technology around us and we must work together to gain deeper understanding of how we can achieve more in a future when more than 6 billion people on the planet will connect to each other,” said Toby Daniels, Founder & Executive Director of Social Media Week and CEO of New York based Crowdcentric. “This is why we continue to build SMW, it's why we are inundated each year with new cities wanting to join us, and it's why we are more excited about the future of SMW than ever before.”
