Online Car Classified Reports Significant Growth in Nigeria

After raising $25 million in funding, launching their iOS app and crossing two million listings, Carmudi continues to show exceptional growth and shows no signs of slowing down.

Carmudi, the fastest way to sell and buy cars online in the emerging markets, attracted 6.4 million monthly visitors during the second quarter of 2015, a 17.6 percent increase over Q1. The number of monthly visits grew in all twenty countries where Carmudi operates, and exceptional growth in traffic was seen in Sri Lanka, Ivory Coast and Vietnam, where monthly visits grew up to 68 percent. Between Q1 and Q2, Carmudi Nigeria saw a 30 percent increase in total visits, particularly in iOS visits where we saw an over 700 percent growth since it was launched in February this year.

Mobile growth has continued to flourish. Carmudi hit over three million mobile visits in May, up 35 percent from January 2015. Since the February releases of the Carmudi iOS app, Carmudi has seen more than 150,000 app visits per month. The highest numbers of iOS app visits can be seen in Vietnam, Nigeria and in Bangladesh. Part of the reason for the app success stems from the fact that Carmudi specifically designed the app to work even with the slowest Internet connection as it only loads what is absolutely necessary.

Out of four regions where Carmudi is currently present, the fastest growing countries are Nigeria, Indonesia, Pakistan, UAE, and Mexico. In the past eight month period, the number of uploaded listings on the site have increased up to 116.6 percent.

Launched in end of 2013, the online car classifieds now operates in 20 countries across Africa, Asia, Middle East and Latin America and is already the market leader in Bangladesh, Myanmar and the Philippines. With over two million listings in the past year, Carmudi is on the fast track to become the number one place to buy and sell cars in the emerging markets.

“So far, 2015 has been a stellar year for Carmudi and we will continue to provide our users with the best car shopping experience and to be number one in the industry. We want Carmudi to be a household name, a one-stop-shop for all car related subjects”, says Amy Muoneke, Managing Director of Carmudi Nigeria.
