How to get a brand to sponsor your wedding

Who says a brand can't sponsor your wedding even if you ain't a celebrity? The story of childhood sweethearts from Illinois, USA, Joel Burger and Ashley King is one that you can take an hint from. On July 17, 2015 the couple had "one of the greatest wedding in history".

As the story goes, Joel Burger announced through social media earlier this year, his intention to marry his heartthrob Ashley King. After which, the couple asked fast food chain Burger King for permission to use its logos on their wedding favours. The company not only granted them this rather weird request, but also offered foot the bill for ‪#‎BurgerKingWedding and provided gifts too‬.

This turns out to be a marketing stunt for the brand and also the couple to cut cost but also gave their marriage huge media attention too.

Pictures of the wedding on Burger King’s official Facebook account shows the couple and their guests in Burger King branded paper crowns, T-shirts, and matching hamburger socks.

You think they had the opportunity because of their brand-related names? Well, you may be right. But as long as you can create a buzz that is good enough to attract a brand and its teeming consumers, your wedding might be the next brand-sponsored matrimony.

Congratulations to Joel and Ashley!
