Andrea Pirlo officially leaves Juventus to join New York City

Andrea Pirlo completes his move from Juventus to MLS side New York City FC. The 36-year-old joins up with Frank Lampard and David Villa.

The playmaker arrives as a free transfer having made 164 appearances for the Italian champions in his four years at the club, contributed 35 assists and amassed seven trophies.

A World Cup winner in 2006, Pirlo earned 115 caps for his country and found the net 13 times.

Juventus said in a statement that it was an "honour and a privilege" to have had Pirlo on the team, adding: "Thanks for everything, Maestro, and good luck."
