Fast & Furious 7 becomes fastest film to make $1 billion

'Fast and Furious 7' has officially become the fastest film to make $1 billion at the box office.

The James Wan-directed movie - which is the last film in the series to star late actor Paul Walker - hit the impressive figure in a record-breaking 17 days.

The action film currently sits at $1.15 billion in international grosses, $294 million of that coming from domestic theaters.

Furious 7 is currently number 7 on the list of all-time highest-grossing movies worldwide.

Ticket sales have made the film's income larger than the GDP of 16 countries, including Gambia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada, according to the International Monetary Fund.
