Real Madrid, the most expensive Liga club to follow

According to a study investigating how much fans have to spend to follow their team religiously over a full campaign, Real Madrid are the costliest club to support in the Spanish top flight, while Eibar offer the best value.

In a report by Marca.com, Spanish fans have to shell out an average of around €3,000 to follow their team through thick and thin. In Real's case, that figure rises to some €3,464, while Eibar are close to a grand cheaper at €2,644. Die-hard 'Madridistas' will find themselves paying out €375 more than their Atlético counterparts (€3,089) this year and exactly €400 more than Barça devotees (€3,064).

Besides the cost of season tickets for home matches, the other variables included in the study were: the price of attending away games (€950, in Real's case), transport to and from home and away fixtures (€900), sandwiches and drinks for each match (€240), replica kits and scarves (€108) and a subscription to satellite TV (€216).
