Promasidor flags off 2014 Cowbell competition in 200 centres

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of Cowbell Milk has held the first stage examination of its Cowbell National Secondary Schools Mathematics Competition (NASSMAC) in 200 centres in 34 states across the country and the Federal Capital Territory.

The examination which held recently in all the states of the Federation except Yobe and Bornu states was supervised by officials of state ministries of education with several students participating.

The competition was opened to all students between ages 10 – 18 years in JSS3 and SSS2 attending full time secondary education in government approved schools in Nigeria.

The best three (3) students in junior and senior categories represented each school and to be eligible to sit for examinations, such a student must be in JSS 3 and SSS 2.

Students, teachers and head teachers are required to check the examination results on the company’s website: www.promasidor-ng.com as from Wednesday, May 21, 2014.

The best three students in each category at the state level will receive first prize cash award of N25,000, second prize N20,000 and third prize N15,000 respectively.

They will also receive branded material such as school bags, T-shirts, pens, notebooks and certificates of recognition while their Mathematics teachers will receive cash award of N15,000 each.

The best students in each category from each state and the Federal Capital (74 students in all), accompanied by their mathematics teachers, will be invited to the four regional centres in Abuja, Lagos, Enugu and Port Harcourt for the second and final stage examination which will hold on Saturday, May 31, 2014.

The 19 states in the north and Abuja will produce 38 students, 14 students will emerge from seven states in the South West including Lagos; ten candidates will come from five states in the South East (Enugu) while 12 students school from the six states in the South-South will sit for the second stage examination in Port Harcourt.

Besides the exams, the students and their teachers will also be treated to excursion at all the regional centres after the examinations, an experience all the candidates and teachers will always remember.

The Cowbell National Secondary Schools Mathematics Competition (NASSMAC) has evolved over the years and has continued to expand in scope with the support of the Ministry of Education in both federal and state levels.

The competition has stood the test of time, hence the tremendous support it has received from all stakeholders involved over the years.
