Loerie award: DDB Lagos wins Silver Loeries

At the just concluded 35th Loeries Award held in Cape Town, South Africa, DDB Lagos became the first Nigerian agency to win a Loerie award after being awarded  a silver Loeries award for its "Speechless" campaign for Girl Hub/Nike Foundation.

DDB Lagos competed for the awards' Africa and Middle East category along side agencies from Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates.In this categories for entries from outside of South Africa, three Gold, Three Silver and eight Bronze Loeries were awarded.

The Golds went to: Ogilvy & Mather Africa (Kenya) for Media Innovation, with their entry, Radar Security’s “The on-the-job interview”; Advantage Y&R (Namibia) for Print Communication,with thier entry, Land Rover’s “Bookshelf” and Y&R Dubai (United Arab Emirates) for Outdoor & Collateral Media, with their entry, Harvey Nichols’ “Pelicans”.

DDB Lagos which had 2 entries on the final list in the Africa/Middle East print communication category was nominated alongside other agencies such as DDB Mozambique, Advantage Y&R, Ogilvy Africa. The Gold Loerie in the category was awarded to Advantage Y&R for its "Bookshelf" campaign for Landrover. Even though Brandwork Nigeria did not sight any representative from DDB Lagos, the Nigerian representation featuring delegations from 141 Worldwide, Noah's Ark and Univeler Nigeria left the event with a lot of food for thought for the future of advertising in Nigeria.
