The stops feature concerts workshops, art installations, studio sessions and parties in extraordinary locations, taking visitors beyond the beat.
Founded in 1998, the initiative by the energy drink maker, Red Bull Music Academy is a school for two groups of 30 selected participants— producers, vocalists, DJs, instrumentalists, and musicians from all around the globe. They come together in a new city each year for two weeks worth of recording sessions, lectures by musical celebrities, and night jams. This year’s Academy will take place in Madrid in October. The World Tour is a part of the Academy promotion and is open for public.
According to the company, the initiative includes encouraging DIY initiatives, exploring technology, crossing generations and facilitating music cultures clash.
The Tour kicked off on August 29 and the first city visited by the Academy was Cape Town. Currently, the event is hitting Berlin. Next stop is Paris on September 11. After traveling to Americas the Tour will be back to Europe and culminates in London with the ‘Revolutions In Sound’ event on October 13.
The line-up will feature: Skream & Benga W/Sgt Pokes, Metalheadz feat. Goldie, Rodigan, Roller Express, Fabriclive, Deviation ft. Benji B, Channel One Sound System, Lunice and others.
Londoners will have a breathtaking opportunity to ‘dial into the sounds of London one capsule at a time’. The Academy will take over the London Eye. In each of the 30 capsules producers, DJs and bands, including some Red Bull Music Academy alumni, present the latest upfront London sounds making waves around the globe.
Free tickets will be released at 10am GMT on September 22 via redbull.co.uk/revolutionsinsound. Another Red Bull’s regular fun initiative—Flugtag—will take place at Red Bull Flugtag Tampa, Florida on October 8.
