KWASU Hosts Soundcity OnTour as Bigi Music Competition Spotlights Emerging Artistes

Kwara State University (KWASU) came alive with music, entertainment and emerging talent as Soundcity OnTour brought its 2026 campus experience to the institution on 31 October, transforming the university into a vibrant centre of live performances, musical discovery and youthful expression.

The event brought together aspiring musicians, established artistes and students for an engaging celebration of music and creativity, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their abilities while connecting with the wider university community.

A major highlight was the Bigi Music Competition, which offered aspiring campus artistes an opportunity to demonstrate their musical talent, reach new audiences and compete for top honours. Following an impressive display of performances, Adegbenro Abdulateef, popularly known as Yomide, emerged winner of the competition.

Ige Samuel Oluwadamilare, known as Voice Boy, finished as first runner-up, while Amuda Abdulazeem, performing under the stage name Hazzi The Hollow, secured the second runner-up position.

Beyond the competition, the platform gave the young performers valuable exposure to live audiences, helping them build confidence and take their musical ambitions beyond the university environment. Their performances highlighted the creative potential within Nigeria's university communities and the importance of providing emerging artistes with opportunities to gain visibility and recognition.

The entertainment continued with exciting performances from Kinglex, Kodee, Slimcase, Marrz and Muyeez, whose appearances added star power to the event. The artistes kept the audience entertained, creating a memorable blend of established music acts and rising campus performers.

Powered by Bigi and Fearless Energy Drink, Soundcity OnTour continues to take music, entertainment and talent discovery to university communities across Nigeria, creating experiences that celebrate young people's passions, creativity and individuality.

For Bigi, the music competition provides an opportunity to connect with young Nigerians through their shared passion for music while giving promising artistes a platform to showcase their abilities. By taking the competition to university campuses, the brand strengthens its connection with a generation that values creativity, self-expression and opportunities to distinguish itself.

Fearless Energy Drink, with its bold and energetic brand identity, complements the experience by appealing to the confidence, ambition and expressive spirit of young Nigerians. Together, the brands deliver more than entertainment, creating an environment where students can celebrate their individuality, explore new interests and express themselves freely.

The KWASU edition further demonstrated the importance of campus entertainment initiatives in bringing young people together while creating opportunities for emerging creatives to gain exposure. For Yomide, Voice Boy and Hazzi The Hollow, the competition represented a significant opportunity to introduce their musical talents to a wider audience and experience the excitement of performing on a bigger stage.

As Soundcity OnTour continues its journey across Nigerian universities, the initiative remains focused on creating engaging campus experiences where music meets opportunity, emerging talent finds an audience and young people are encouraged to celebrate their creativity.
