The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will support the successful hosting of the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Nigeria.
NIPR President, Dr Ike Neliaku, disclosed this during a webinar organised by the institute to mark International Women’s Day 2026 on Saturday in Abuja.
According to Neliaku, more than 3,000 participants from 126 countries are expected to attend the global forum scheduled to take place in Abuja from 15 to 21 November.
The event will feature several cultural activities aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s rich heritage, unity in diversity and the values of its people. Organisers also expect the forum to boost Nigeria’s economy through increased tourism, hospitality, cultural exchange and professional networking.
Neliaku said President Tinubu had assured the institute of strong backing for the event and was expected to declare the forum open.
He quoted the President as expressing commitment to ensuring that Nigeria delivers what he described as the biggest, brightest and boldest edition of the World Public Relations Forum.
“President Tinubu, being a key player in the Nigerian media industry, understands the value of what we have.
“He has deep knowledge of communication and understands clearly what this forum means for Nigeria and Africa,” he stated.
Neliaku also commended the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, for the institutional backing the institute has received under his leadership as the nation’s chief spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the President of Global Alliance, Prof. Justin Green, praised NIPR, the host association of the forum, for its efforts to deliver what he described as the biggest, brightest and boldest WPRF.
Green said the webinar demonstrated the institute’s commitment to promoting inclusiveness and advancing gender sensitivity within the communication profession.
Appearing on the online platform in traditional Nigerian attire, he also expressed optimism that the November gathering would not only mark the unveiling of the world’s first sector-based public relations university but would also be historic in terms of content and participation.
Also speaking, the African Union Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security, Liberata Mulamula, urged public relations professionals to use their platforms to shape narratives that influence society and highlight the role of women in peace and security.
Mulamula emphasised that empowering women remained one of the most effective ways to drive national development. She added that communication that promotes women’s rights, challenges stereotypes and counters misinformation is essential to protecting women and advancing equality.
