Tinubu appoints Ibrahim Ida as CAC chairman, nominates seven others for National Population Commission roles

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Senator Dr Ibrahim Ida as Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and nominated seven individuals to fill vacant commissioner positions at the National Population Commission.

Ida holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan (1983) and an LLB from the University of Abuja (2003). Before his election to the Senate in 2017, where he represented Katsina Central, he served as Commissioner of Finance for Katsina State and as Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.

The seven nominees for appointment as Federal Commissioners representing their respective states in the National Population Commission are:

Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi – Ekiti State
Nasiru Mu’azu – Zamfara State
Usman Abubakar Tuggar – Bauchi State
Dr Isaka Alada Yahaya – Kwara State
Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda – Katsina State
Suleiman Umar – Jigawa State
Hon. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo – Sokoto State

The appointments, which complement other Federal Commissioners already sworn in, are subject to confirmation by the National Assembly.

President Tinubu also appointed Dr Yusuf Mohammed of Kano State as Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo.

In addition, the President confirmed the appointment of Bala Mohammed Bello as Special Adviser on Political Economy.

Bello, who hails from Kebbi State, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Prior to this role, he served as Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria and was Executive Director (Corporate Services) at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank between 2017 and 2022.

President Tinubu expressed confidence in the appointees, stating that he believes in their capacity to contribute meaningfully to the administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life for Nigerians.
