MTN Nigeria Approves Interim Dividend as Earnings Rebound

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc is set to resume shareholder payouts with an interim dividend scheduled for release this week, according to information contained in its latest corporate disclosure.

The decision follows a solid nine-month earnings performance for the 2025 financial year, prompting the board to approve a distribution after a two-year dividend freeze. The company had halted payouts as foreign-exchange liabilities and the impact of the naira’s devaluation placed heavy pressure on its balance sheet and weakened profitability.

“An Interim Dividend of N5 per 2 kobo ordinary share has been approved by the Board of Directors of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, subject to appropriate deduction of withholding tax,” the telecommunications firm told the Nigerian Exchange.

Shareholders whose names appear in the Register of Members at the close of business on 20 November 2025 will be eligible for the payment.

“On 28 November 2025, dividends will be paid electronically to shareholders whose names appear on the Register of Members as at 20 November 2025, and who have completed the e-dividend registration and mandated the Registrar to pay their dividends directly into their Bank accounts,” MTN said.

MTN Nigeria’s share price slipped to N465 last week amid mild sell-offs, valuing the company at N9.762 trillion—around 11% below its highest market valuation in the past 52 weeks.
