The Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) has officially announced the PRISMS Summit 2025, set to take place from Thursday, 16 to Friday, 17 October 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sandton.
According to PRISA, the two-day event will unite leading professionals, academics, policymakers, and innovators from across Africa to explore how public relations and communications can drive trust, credibility, and leadership in an era of rapid transformation.
Designed as a high-level gathering of the continent’s communication leaders, the summit will feature plenary sessions, focused breakaway streams, leadership insights, and valuable networking opportunities. Delegates will engage in critical discussions and hands-on learning experiences aimed at elevating professional standards and promoting innovation within Africa’s communication industry, says PRISA.
PRISA President Bradly Howland says the 2025 summit comes at a defining moment for the profession. “PR and communications are no longer peripheral functions; they are at the heart of reputation, trust and leadership in society. The PRISMS Summit is not only a platform to share knowledge but a movement to redefine the role of communications in shaping Africa's future.”
The 2025 programme will feature thought-provoking discussions on:
-
AI Safety and Governance – Ensuring the ethical use of emerging technologies.
-
PR Professionalism – Building credibility and accountability across the industry.
-
Leadership and Agency Excellence – Empowering practitioners to lead change in boardrooms and beyond.
-
Professional Roundtables – Facilitating collaborative exchanges with communication leaders from across Africa.
Howland emphasised the growing responsibility of communicators in an increasingly digital world.
“Technology is racing ahead, but communication professionals must ensure it is harnessed ethically and responsibly. We also need to champion credibility in our work and ensure our voice is heard in the boardroom. This summit is where Africa's communicators will sharpen their skills, expand their networks and co-create solutions to the challenges shaping our industry.”
He added that the summit represents more than a professional event, it is a platform for building a connected and future-focused PR community.
“The PRISMS Summit 2025 is an opportunity to connect with peers, share experiences and shape conversations that matter to the profession. It's a chance to be part of a growing community committed to the future of the profession and communications as a whole.”
