Manchester City have signed a landmark partnership deal with Puma valued at a minimum of £1 billion. The £100 million-a-year agreement extends their current contract with the German sportswear giant until at least 2035, marking a significant increase from the previous £65 million-a-year deal set to run until 2029.
The agreement is believed to be the first £1 billion contract in English football and sets a new annual record for a Premier League club. In comparison, Manchester United signed a 10-year deal with Adidas in July 2023 worth approximately £900 million, while Liverpool recently agreed to a multi-year partnership with Adidas, believed to be worth £60 million per season.
Since partnering with Puma in 2019, City have enjoyed unprecedented success under Pep Guardiola, winning four Premier League titles and becoming only the second English club to achieve a continental treble.
Ferran Soriano, Chief Executive of City Football Group, said, “We joined forces with Puma with the ambition to challenge ourselves and go beyond the expectations. We have achieved this and more over the last six seasons. Today’s renewal and extension solidifies our relationship and projects it to an even brighter future.”
Puma also supplies kits for several other City Football Group clubs, including Melbourne City, Girona, Lommel, Mumbai City, Montevideo City Torque, Palermo, Bolívar, Bahia, and ESTAC Troyes.
In related development, former Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool defender Kolo Touré has been appointed to Guardiola’s backroom staff permanently. The 44-year-old served as assistant first-team coach during the recent Club World Cup campaign and will now remain in the role full-time.
