...Al Ittihad and APR Set for Third-Place Game on June 13


The 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Finals are officially set. Al Ahli Tripoli (Libya) will take on Petro de Luanda (Angola) on Saturday, June 14 at 4 p.m. CAT at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, South Africa, concluding the league’s landmark fifth season.

In Wednesday’s first semifinal, Al Ahli Tripoli overcame APR (Rwanda) with an 84–71 victory. Fabian White Jr. led the effort with 23 points and 7 rebounds, supported by Caleb Agada’s 17 points. Al Ahli’s three-point shooting (41.4%) proved decisive, while APR struggled from beyond the arc, converting just 4 of 18 attempts. Nuni Omot topped APR’s scoring with 22 points, while Obadiah Noel, Chasson Randle, and Aliou Diarra each added 13.

In the second semifinal, defending champions Petro de Luanda eased past Al Ittihad (Egypt) with a 96–74 win as they aim for consecutive BAL titles. Kendrick Ray posted a game-high 21 points, and Aboubacar Gakou contributed 17. Petro hit 40.7% from three-point range and converted 85% of their free throws. Al Ittihad’s Lual Acuil led his team with 16 points, but they struggled from deep, connecting on just 5 of 26 attempts.

Al Ittihad will meet APR in the third-place game on Friday, June 13 at 7 p.m. CAT.
