NIPR Re-elects Ike Neliaku as President, Daudara as Vice President

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has re-elected Dr. Ike Neliaku as its President and Chairman of the Governing Council. The announcement was made on Thursday during the 2025 Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW) held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Dr. Neliaku, who is serving his second and final term, was unanimously elected by the 17-member Governing Council, newly constituted following elections held during the annual NPRW. Neliaku, Managing Director of Right-Angle PR, first assumed the presidency two years ago and is credited with introducing a range of transformative programmes during his initial term.

Among those elected or re-elected to the Governing Council were Mrs. Comfort Nwankwo, Chairperson of the Lagos chapter; her predecessor, Mr. Olusegun McMedal; Prof. Emmanuel Daudara (re-elected Vice President); Mr. Akin Agbejule (Niger); Mrs. Olubunmi Adedoyin Badejo (FCT); and Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha (Anambra).

Other members include Mallam Bashir Adamu Chedi (Kaduna), Dr. Saudat Salah Abdubaqi (Kwara), Comrade Ini Ememobong (Akwa Ibom), Malam Kabir Ali Kobir (Bauchi), Pastor Paulinus Enyidah Nsirim (Rivers), Prof. Sarah Benjamin Lwahas (Plateau), Mr. Adaramola Temitope (Ogun), Dr. Adewale Oladipo Oyekanmi (Osun), Chief Patrick Ogoegbunem Uka (Delta), and Sajoh Ahmed Ibrahim (Adamawa).

According to NIPR’s electoral structure, institute members elect the Governing Council, which then serves as the electoral college for selecting the President and Vice President. Additionally, five more Council members are expected to be appointed by the Federal Government.

Dr. Neliaku, a fellow of the Institute and native of Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State’s Njikoka Local Government Area, holds a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Jos, a Master’s in Political Economy, and a Ph.D. in Development Studies from the University of Abuja.

In his acceptance remarks, he reaffirmed the Council's commitment to leveraging the NIPR platform to continue reshaping Nigeria’s image.

The NPRW also featured a robust lineup of activities, including a stakeholders roundtable with traditional rulers, a cocktail networking night, and the official inauguration of the Nigeria Reputation Management Group, culminating in the Governing Council elections.
