FREEE Recycle UK Launches Eco-Friendly Products Made from Recycled Tyres, Celebrates Success of Nigerian Pilot Program

FREEE Recycle Holding Limited, a UK-based company specializing in integrated recycling and manufacturing in Africa, proudly announces the launch of its new brand and product line in the UK, featuring items made from recycled tyres. This initiative, part of the #GreenToGo Campaign, highlights the success of the company's pilot project in Nigeria and marks the start of its broader rollout across Africa.

Faced with the significant waste challenge in Africa, particularly in the realm of tyre disposal, FREEE Recycle launched its pilot operations in Nigeria. The country generates over 11 million waste tyres annually, driven by its large population and booming automotive sector. To address this issue, FREEE Recycle Nigeria developed an innovative Integrated Recycling and Manufacturing Model. This model transforms discarded tyres into crumb rubber, which is then used to create new commercial and retail products, showcasing a sustainable solution to tyre waste management.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director, FREEE Recycle UK, Ifedolapo Runsewe, said; “FREEE Recycle Holding Limited was founded in the United Kingdom with a mission to develop, operate and invest in Integrated Recycling and Manufacturing (IRM) Companies across Africa. Nigeria was chosen as the pilot location due to its significant waste tyre generation and urgent need for sustainable waste management solutions. Currently, Nigeria’s tyre market is a staggering 5.7 million units, and is projected to grow at a rate of 3-5% annually. To address this, we pioneered the Integrated Recycling and Manufacturing (IRM) model, which seamlessly combines recycling with manufacturing to ensure that all components of waste materials are maximized and converted to eco-friendly products.”

The Nigerian Subsidiary, FREEE Recycle Limited, operates a state-of-the-art recycling and manufacturing facility that converts waste tyres into finished goods, addressing both the environmental and social impact of improper disposal methods. The company has also invested in research and development initiatives which have led to the development of standard operating procedures for operating and managing a recycling and manufacturing plant while engaging in vocational and skills acquisition initiatives to develop the skill level of women and youths in recycling and manufacturing.

FREEE Recycle Nigeria's operation is aligned with 12 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, further highlighting its commitment to sustainability and environmental impact. The success achieved is also predicated on its unique sales strategy with 10% of its products targeted at retail market, 40% targeted at export and 50% focused on corporates through its Extended Consumer Responsibility Program.

As part of the #GreenToGo Campaign, FREEE Recycle UK's next steps include establishing additional recycling plants within Nigeria, expanding operations in the United Kingdom as a holding company, and partnering with UK-based organizations, investors, and recycling companies. The company also plans to replicate its Integrated Recycling and Manufacturing Model in more locations in Nigeria and Africa, addressing waste management challenges and creating business and job opportunities for SMEs, women, and the youths.

FREEE Recycle UK is a Holding Company developing, operating, and investing in Integrated Recycling and Manufacturing Companies focused on addressing waste management challenges in Africa.   With a successful pilot location in Nigeria, the company has developed an effective framework for waste tyre disposal and has expanded its operations to the United Kingdom.   FREEE Recycle UK is committed to sustainability, environmental impact, and creating business and job opportunities for SMEs, women, and youths.
