The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) today announced that the Saadiyat Cultural District and its cultural institutions remain on track for a 2025 completion.
Saadiyat Cultural District represents a global platform steeped in rich cultural heritage, celebrating traditions, and promoting cultural equity. It showcases museums, collections, and narratives that honour regional heritage while fostering a diverse global cultural landscape.
Upon completion, the district's diverse institutions will make it one of the world's most unique cultural hubs. Already home to Louvre Abu Dhabi – the first universal museum in the Arab world – the district presents artworks from various cultures, highlighting human connections. Since its opening in 2017, Louvre Abu Dhabi has welcomed 5 million visitors and is renowned for its stunning architecture and innovative storytelling.
Manarat Al Saadiyat, another key component, serves as a hub for creative artistic expression and hosts major cultural events like Abu Dhabi Art and the Culture Summit Abu Dhabi.
Currently, 76% of the construction for the upcoming institutions in the district is complete. The Zayed National Museum will celebrate the UAE's rich history and culture, honoring the legacy of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. TeamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi will offer visitors an ever-changing experience that transcends the limits of imagination.
Additionally, the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi will feature a research and teaching institution that guides visitors through a 13.8-billion-year journey of the universe and our planet. Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will focus on art from the 1960s to the present, celebrating significant artistic achievements of our time.
The current construction progress of the soon-to-open institutions in Saadiyat Cultural District stands at 76%. Zayed National Museum, the national museum of the United Arab Emirates, will celebrate the nation’s rich history and culture, as well as honour the legacy of the country’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Additionally, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi invites visitors on an ever-changing exploration that will transcend the limits of their imagination.
It will be joined by the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, which will include a research and teaching institution that will take visitors on a 13.8billion-year journey through the story of our universe and our planet. Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will be a museum celebrating art from the 1960s to the present and the most important artistic achievements of our time.
