BREAKING: Tokunboh George-Taylor Acquires Hill & Knowlton Nigeria, Unveils Skot Communications

Former Managing Director of Hill & Knowlton Nigeria, Tokunboh George-Taylor, has successfully completed the acquisition of the business and assets of the agency, marking the inception of his new venture, Skot Public Relations Limited ('Skot Communications' or 'Skot').

BrandArena gathered that the acquisition was formalized through a comprehensive business and asset transfer agreement with Hill+Knowlton Nigeria, a subsidiary under the esteemed WPP Scangroup umbrella. Skot, the freshly established entity, is poised to operate as a global strategic communications consultancy, placing special emphasis on serving the communication needs of Sub-Saharan Africa. This move reflects George-Taylor's commitment to delivering innovative and impactful communication solutions within the region and beyond.

"From Skots perspective, the Proposed Transaction is an opportunity to enter the public relations consulting and marketing communications industry. From the seller's perspective, the Proposed Transaction is part of its strategy to exit the public relations consulting and marketing communications industry in Nigeria. It is, therefore, respectfully submitted that no horizontal, vertical, or conglomerate competition concerns will arise as a result of the Proposed Transaction in Nigeria. In addition, no public interest concerns will arise as a result of the Proposed Transaction, and there will be no negative impact on employment in Nigeria", a statement published on the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) website reads.

The agency will provide a variety of services, including strategic and corporate communications, internal communications, content marketing, digital and influencer media, crisis management, public relations, advertising and advocacy, and event management. The transition comprises the full 21-person team as well as existing clients like Netflix, Visa, GE Vernova, Informa Markets, Shell, and others.

WPP Scangroup noted that this strategic move accords with the company's goal of reallocating resources and improving core business operations in primary markets.

Tokunboh was selected as Hill & Knowlton Nigeria's first managing director when the company began operations in the country in 2015. Prior to her appointment, Tokunboh worked as a member of the group leadership council at Oando, one of Africa's major integrated energy groups, for over 14 years, leading the corporate services and corporate communications departments.
