The announcement was made by Communications Minister Jama Hassan Khalif, who emphasised the importance of combating the misuse of these platforms by terrorist organisations and immoral groups for propagating graphic pictures and deceptive information to the public.
The decision, which is part of a larger effort to escalate the campaign against militants, mainly al Shabaab, demonstrates the government's determination to eradicate the influence of such groups.
