Ex-NITDA DG, Pantami Appointed As Minister of Communication

The former Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the ICT policy implementing arm of the Federal Ministry of Communication of Nigeria, Isa Pantami, has been named as the new Minister of Communications.

His appointment was announced yesterday at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Ministers of the Muhammadu Buhari led government.

Isa Pantami was appointed as the Director General/CEO of NITDA in 2016 and he takes over from Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu, the former Minister of Communications. Before assuming office of the DG, NITDA, he was a Professor of Computer and Information Systems at the Islamic University of Madina.

Kashifu Abdullahi has been appointed to take over from Isa Pantami as the new Director General of the Agency.

He is a Computer Science graduate from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University. He obtained his Masters in 2008 and a PhD from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland.

Pantami is a fellow of both British Computer Society (FBCS) and Nigeria Computer Society (FNCS)
