Network of Enterprising Women Nigeria concludes annual seminar and trade fair

Network of Enterprising Women of Nigeria (NEWN) has concluded its annual seminar and trade fair in Lagos with the official unveiling of the NEWN community business directory which it says will help boost trade among its members.


The fair aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs and encouraging collaboration among them for business and economic growth had more than 65 businesses and corporate organisations in attendance.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Augusta Nwokafor, Coordinator, NEWN, said, “We have come to understand that businesses thrive based on partnerships and this has impacted the way the NEWN community interact and works for business growth. We support and motivate both members and non-member alike to strive for excellence. This network is about inspiring women to step out of the shadow to do big things that will not only impact their families but also the Nigerian economy.”

“We developed a mentorship programmme within NEWN aimed at identifying and supporting young entrepreneurs to be independent. We idenfied the challenges faced by new businesses and experienced members will be mentoring new business to have them successfully navigate the start-up phase. Our earnest desire is to see our members meet their goals. People are registering as either mentors or mentees.” She added.

“The whole idea is that a lot of people desire to commence a particular business line, if they could have someone in same business, where they could commit time to learn the intricacies; through the step by step coaching they will excel. We are just sixteen months into this vision and the community is growing. We also promote a lot of made in Nigeria products, offer consulting services in various fields.” Mrs. Nwokafor concluded.

Products and services showcased at the fair ranged from beauty and lifestyle products to fashion accessories and healthcare products. Others are food and drinks, property consultancy, educational placement services and catering services.
