Sergio Ramos renews with Nike

Spanish football star Sergio Ramos has agreed a major personal endorsement extension with American sportswear firm, Nike.

The Real Madrid and Spain captain has signed a four-year deal with the US sports manufacturer, which Spanish outlets AS and Marca report to be worth €2milion (US$2.1 million) a year. Ramos will exclusively wear Nike boots and lend his image to the Oregon-based company’s numerous soccer campaigns.

The agreement follows months of negations between the two parties since Ramos’ ten-year deal with Nike expired in June.

He becomes the latest Real player to re-sign with Nike, after Cristiano Ronaldo agreed a lifetime contract earlier in the month, a deal worth 10m euros per season.

Ramos will return to Nike branded boots for Real Madrid’s upcoming home fixture against Sporting Gijon and then against bitter rivals Barcelona a week later at the Camp Nou.
