Global tech giant Microsoft is all set to buy software keyboard and SDK application maker SwiftKey.SwiftKey is a free keyword application that powers more than 300 million Android and iOS devices.
With this acquisition, Microsoft intends to integrate SwiftKey technology with their Word Flow technology for Windows.
Microsoft did not reveal figures, but Financial Times reported it paid around $250 million, with SwiftKey's founders Jon Reynolds and Ben Medlock, who had a minority stake in the firm, making around $30 million each.
"Our number one focus has always been to build the best possible products for our users. This will not change. Our apps will continue to be available on Android and iOS, for free. We are as committed as ever to improving them in new and innovative ways,” the co-founders said in a blogpost of their official site.
