Visa Europe calls global pitch

Europe’s Ad agencies are competing to promote company’s role as sponsor of 2016 Olympics. Visa Europe has launched a global search for a creative agency ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games.

The financial services giant is holding pitches for the account, which is open to agencies on Visa’s roster, without the use of an intermediary.

The brief is for an agency to create campaigns marking Visa’s sponsorship of the Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Although Visa Europe is holding the pitch, the work will run globally. This means that agencies on the Visa Inc roster have also been invited to take part. Visa Inc is a separate legal entity for the Visa brand outside Europe.

The company often holds pitches among roster agencies to compete for briefs around global sporting events such as the Olympics and World Cup.

Visa Europe’s Executive Director of Brand and Central Marketing, Gary Twelvetree, is running the pitch.

Saatchi & Saatchi’s position as Visa’s pan-European creative agency is not threatened by the review, although it is believed to be pitching for the 2016 Olympics business.

A spokesman for Visa Europe said: “Visa Europe maintains a roster of marketing agencies which it utilises for a variety of different projects.”
