LG takes the wraps off of its newest 5.5-inch QHD display

As much as it is a smartphone manufacturer, LG is also a displays company. And while those two things may coincide most of the time, the displays operation is a bread earner of its own, and the past few years the company has taken time before the launch of its flagship smartphone to separately announce the display panel that will be used in its production – and the company’s nearly always had the cutting edge of display technology in play with these announcements.
In Seoul last week, the company took the wraps off of the LG G4 QHD display, another 5.5-inch panel.
LG Display employed three leading technologies to achieve the superior specifications of the new display: high color gamut LED, Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT) and photo-alignment.
The 2,560 x 1,440 resolution display will be on the upcoming LG G4 when it launches on April 28th in New York City, with the new panel supposedly having such a high touch sensitivity that it will be able to respond to touch commands with water drops.

The big question now is how the new panel would affect power consumption for the LG G4?
