Global Apple Watch Pre-Orders Exceed 2.3 Million Units

Apple Watch is already wiping the floor with the entire smartwatch market. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimates that Apple's debut smartwatch has sold more than 2.3 million units since preorders opened, MacRumors reports.

Apple has not yet provided official sales figures for the Apple Watch, but Kuo predicts that Apple could reach 2.5 million units produced in June if production bottlenecks are absent.

The New York Times also reported yesterday that Apple has scrapped its usual routine for releasing products with its new device, the Apple Watch. The company is instead taking a page from the playbook of another industry: luxury goods makers.
