Good News! Uber To Berth In Kenya


Having had a successful launch in South Africa and Nigeria, plans are in top gear to launch app-based transportation network and taxi company Uber in Kenya.

According to the company, its ambition is "to be in every major city in the world".

In a partnership with restaurant discovery platform EatOut, Uber is launching its service during Nairobi Restaurant Week with a promotion running between 22 January and 1 February. Uber’s already has 30 cars registered in the city.

To enjoy the service, individuals are enjoined to download the Uber app on their iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices. They will then use the NRW2015 promo code.

Mikul Shah, Chief Executive Officer of EatOutKenya said: “I’m delighted that Uber recognises Restaurant Week as a suitable platform to test their service. Tens of thousand of diners visited participating restaurants in 2014 and we’re glad that we have been able to build on the success of last year’s event. I’m thankful to all our sponsors and partners for making this happen again. You can’t really beat a great meal at a great price plus a free ride to the restaurant – especially as we are offering specials on wine and cocktails during NRW.”

Uber is one of the fastest growing company in Africa. With it expension to Kenya, the company is expected to further expand its tentagle to other East African countries.
