Apple to hold special event Sept. 9: 'Wish we could say more'

Apple on Thursday confirmed that it will hold a media event on Sept. 9, with a teaser sent to members of the media showcasing the date and a teasing tagline that reads: "Wish we could say more."

A single, tantalizing tagline, “Wish we could say more,” plays up to the mountain of speculation over what new devices Apple will finally unveil.

The event will take place at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, Calif., the same venue where Steve Jobs introduced the world to the Mac 30 years ago.

Apple is widely expected to unveil two versions of the new iPhone 6, one with a 4.7-inch screen and the other with a 5.5-inch screen, to compete with larger-screened phones from the likes of Samsung, HTC and Huawei.

Less is known about the iWatch.

The iWatch may come in multiple screen sizes, according to a June report from the Wall Street Journal, and pack 10 sensors that measure a range of activity levels including heart rate.
