Prince Nawaf Faisal Fahd bin Abdul-Aziz of Saudi Arabia has resigned as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) following his decision to exit as president of his National Olympic Committee.
Prince Nawaf automatically relinquishes his IOC membership due to the status being dependent on his leadership of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee. No reason was given for his resignation, but the IOC said that president Thomas Bach “thanked His Royal Highness for his contribution to the Olympic movement.”
